Majority of the hours are 2:30 - 11:00 p.m., others are 3:30 p.m. to Midnight or 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
May also be assigned to work with seasonal lawn/paint crews during the day.
TITLE: Substitute Custodian
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must demonstrate ability to recognize and maintain a clean environment.
2. Must be able to read and understand the English language -i.e. chemical labels.
3. Must have the ability to cooperate with supervisors, administrators, faculty, and students.
4. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to follow directions.
REPORTS TO: Head Custodian, Principal and Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds
JOB GOAL:
To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Keep building and premises including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all
times.
2. Scrub and disinfect toilet floors daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
3. Keep the grounds free from rubbish.
4. Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
5. Clean all chalkboards and rails, window ledges, and dust fixed furniture daily.
6. Report major repairs needed promptly to the Head Custodian.
7. Report immediately to the Head Custodian or Principal any damage to school property.
8. Remain on the school premises during working hours, except in the event of an
emergency and in such event shall notify the principal immediately (after hours
notify Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds) before leaving the building.
9. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and
waste.
10. Removal of graffiti and defacing marks will be an ongoing daily requirement.
11. Shovel, plow and sand walks, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Upper body strength to lift up to 40 pounds and carry more then 50 feet or up three flights of stairs
throughout the work day.
2. Must be able to lift 80 pounds to waist height.
3. Lower body strength to stand and walk throughout the day.
4. Ability to work at heights from a ladder.
5. Ability to work around or be in contact with items that affect senses (i.e. chemicals).
6. Need to be adaptable to varying temperatures and climates encountered indoors and outdoors.
New Employees are required to be fingerprinted with PTSB or Fingerprinting Office - $20. Must also take the Online training on the internet.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Called as needed with salary to be set by Board of Trustees.
